College Student Health Initiatives:
University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) & Luther College (Iowa)
  • Challenge: Engage student populations in their own health care by leveraging Internet-based tools to promote student adoption of health responsibility and habits.

  • Objectives: Provide students with personal health information and decision support tools; explore e-health curriculum components.

  • Process: The Foundation made WorldDoc 24/7 available to students of both campuses to measure adoption, usage, student health promotion techniques and to identify classroom opportunities to combine learning and personal health management experiences.

  • Lesson: Students are more open to health information when it is tied to the educational experience, e.g. for a class, or prerequisite, and when health information content matches student experience.

  Overview:

Colleges and universities are experiencing significant challenges & expense related to student health.

WorldDoc Foundation entered into donation agreements to support the respective projects through a three-year pilot phase.

At Luther College, nearly the entire freshman class registered for WorldDoc’s 24/7 health management system. Many completed health risk assessments as part of a class assignment, establishing a baseline health profile for future comparison studies. The assessments produce information for the College to plan prevention and wellness programs.
