Healthy Ocala
Greater Ocala Health Information Trust
  • Challenge: Provide an electronic personal health record (PHR) system and non-profit expertise to a start-up RHIO adding new and multi-faceted stakeholders, objectives and vendors.

  • Objectives: Create an interoperable HIE that balances consumer and provider focus and employs a business plan that engages all segments of the community, with shared costs and benefits.

  • Process: Support a community coalition including physicians, hospitals, the Chamber of Commerce, educators, government leaders and community-based organizations. Other vendors were selected to help physicians implement interoperable EMR systems and integrate hospital data for use by patients and physicians.

  • Lesson: With leadership and broad-based active involvement by all stakeholders, a community can align its health care resources and infrastructure with residents for better health outcomes/costs.

Our Message
  Overview:

Marion County, FL (pop. 330,000).
A growing senior population and increases in chronic health conditions were creating an unsustainable system that impacted providers, patients and employers.

Local health care leaders invited WorldDoc Foundation in early collaboration to provide PHR that would link patients and providers and assess/advise on needs of uninsured and at-risk groups.

The Foundation designed a solution to engage consumers, encourage prevention and implement a revenue sharing model that currently helps funds the initiative.
