Nine area Senior Centers, Community-based Agencies
  • Challenge: Train Senior Center staff to help seniors use the Internet as a health information resource, a timely launch that coincided with the start of Medicare Part D drug coverage. This required emphasis on prescription medications and instruction on how to choose the best plan alternative.

  • Objectives: Provide registered members of the senior centers with liaison, information and tools to help them be comfortable with their understanding and choices for Medicare Part D; provide access and engage seniors in Internet friendly health information.

  • Process: After software development of the senior specialized medications dimension of 24/7, WorldDoc Foundation helped create training programs and user guides to provide to the nine selected sites in both rural and urban areas.

  • Lesson: For populations that do not have Internet access at home, it is important to brand, structure, promote and track engagement within a site-based program.

Our Message
  Overview:

In a community setting with intermediary assistance, seniors can embrace health information and decisions via the Internet using on-site access.

WorldDoc Foundation designed a My Medications section for WorldDoc 24/7 that identified savings opportunities, therapeutic duplications and other important information for seniors.

45 volunteers and staff were trained to help seniors register and use their personal account; 600+ seniors have established a personal electronic health record account using WorldDoc 24/7. Many have replaced brand name medications with much more affordable generics.
